〇 Overview

GrainFrame is a realtime, programmable, interactive sound design suite. It is a granular engine, built on a signal domain core and custom made signal computation algorithms. It answers to the musical and technical challenge of creating a realtime granular instrument for generating a wide spectrum of sonic expression, with the highest fidelity possible.

GrainFrame is a carefully crafted contribution to the art of Micro Sound composition. Sound granulation has a well documented background in the field of auditory design, from the earliest forms of time stretching to the latest digital audio techniques. Many practitioners work with granular in the fields of electro acoustic composition, sound design for film and video games, conceptual sound art and much more. Micro sound design and composition is a compelling medium to work in, and pushes the composer and sound designer to consider deeply coupled relationships between time scales, timbre and material densities. Although pitch and rhythm continue to have a role in micro sound music, it is the construction of larger sounds by manipulating many small fragments of audio that can lead to new timbral vocabularies. Working at the extremities of perceptual time scales, we find…
